Sport For Life Webinar- The Inclusion of Trans and Non-Binary People In Sport

  • Clear Water Academy Gym 3910 Quesnay Wood Drive Southwest Calgary, AB, T3E 7M3 Canada (map)

In recent years, the issue of the participation of trans and non-binary people in sport has gained greater prominence. Unfortunately, this issue too often drifts towards a discourse tinted with transphobia, where prejudices and stereotypes, rather than being combated, are reiterated. Moreover, sport is often used as a tool in transphobic arguments.

In this webinar, we will explore the nature of prejudice and stereotypes towards trans and non-binary people in the context of sport to better demystify them and show how they are not rooted in science (E-Alliance, 2021). Next, we'll outline concrete actions that can be implemented to promote greater inclusion of trans and non-binary people in sport, such as the transaffirmative approach (Pullen Sansfaçon, 2015).
