Harper government plans to study athletics funding
The Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport commissioned this report on
behalf of the True Sport movement, Canada’s national movement for
sport and community.
This report is to provide the evidence that sport can be a powerful and positive influence in our communities. We want to help communities, policy makers at all levels, business leaders and
those in sport, to see the tremendous potential that lies within our community sport system. We hope that they will work together, and come up with new approaches that put this potential to work for Canadians.
Calgary will be the new home for the Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame. The location for this Hall will be at Canada Olympic Park adjacent to the Athletic and Ice Complex which is now under construction. “Calgary is an ideal location for Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame. In
addition to our strong sense of volunteerism, philanthropy and entrepreneurial
spirit, our city boasts an unrivalled passion for sport, which Canada’s Sports
Hall of Fame will benefit greatly from,” said Bob Hamilton, co-chair of this
bid. Click here for more information.

The
non-profit/voluntary sector has expressed considerable interest in this
program, and applications are coming in every day. However, based on
feedback, Minister Blackett has extended the application deadline date for
