Calgary luger earns rare World Cup medal Print E-mail

The Alberta Sport, Recreation, Parks and Wildlife Foundation Sport Recognition Awards - The 2010 Athlete and Team of the Year Awards, Coaching, Officiating and Volunteer Recognition Awards will be presented at the 2011 Leadership Summit. Nominations are now open and will close on January 31, 2011.

The 2011 Leadership Summit is scheduled for April 7-9 at the Banff Centre. The Program Brochure with session descriptions is now available. 
 
Canada's Sports Hall of Fame welcomes class of 2010 Print E-mail

csc-icone-news.jpgSome familiar faces were among the honourees as Canada's Sports Hall of Fame inducted its Class of 2010 at a dinner held in Calgary November 15.

Calgary-born gymnast Kyle Shewfelt, who captured gold at the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Clara Hughes, a multi-sport Olympic medallist who frequently trains in town, two-time Olympic women's hockey gold medallist and former captain of the Calgary Oval X-treme Cassie Campbell, as well former CEO of Own the Podium and University of Calgary Dean Roger Jackson were all honoured for their contributions to Canadian sport.

Sport Facility Renewal Project funds now available Print E-mail

Thcsc-icone-news.jpge City of Calgary is now open for funding applications through its Sport Facility Renewal Project, which allows $40 million of funding between 2009 and 2015 for the upgrade of existing sport facilities in Calgary.
